Monday’s are always a pain. Coming off the weekend there’s a lot to catch up on. But it’s all done now.
Today’s workout was strength training which takes about 45 minutes now that I’m doing two sets of my arm exercises. I also did 3 of the 5 miles on the 5 Mile Fat Burning Walk DVD, and 1 mile on the elliptical. So, combined strength training and cardio took me a little under 2 hours. That’s not including breaks for water, breakfast (quick bowl of Kashi GoLEAN Crisp and blueberry yogurt cup) or anything like that. I need to see if I can get started earlier than I do, especially on strength training days. We’ll see what happens.
I got in a total of 4 miles today, which is great. Tomorrow is a rest day, and I intend to clean off my desk. It’s not too messy, it just needs a good dusting. So everything will come off and hopefully I’ll find my scissors in the process. They’ve been missing for about a week.

Moving On St. Patrick’s Day
Got three miles in this morning after taking three days off. I was a lazy bum, but it felt good to rest too. Back at it. Got it done and out of the way somewhat early today. Good picture from the virtual walk site too.
Always feel a lot better after I get a workout done. I have 10.54 miles to go until I get to Max Meadows, VA

400 Miles Down!
Well, 400.6 to be exact. Since I started the Virtual Walk across the country on April 28, 2008, I’ve travelled 400.6 miles. And I’m still in Virginia. I just passed through Draper, VA and am now on my way to Max Meadows in Pulaski county. I’ve got about 13 miles until I get there, so it shouldn’t take me too long.
As far as the 5k With A Twist DVD I mentioned the other day, I’ve decided I’m going to buy it. I watched the whole thing (45 minutes) on FaceBook, and loved it. It’s similar to the DVD I already have, but in the 5k one, Leslie Sansone is all by herself for the whole 3.1 miles. There’s no back and forth conversations or high pitch squeals or giggles (not that I mind that, it just gets old), and she seems focused on the walk (she’s always focused, just more so). I plan to buy that in a few weeks.
I want to get it now, but I’m going out of town in about a week and a half, and it will drive me nuts knowing it’s sitting here not being used. So, it will be a good treat to get when I get back, and I plan to use the heck out of it, just like I do with my current DVD.
Major progress is being made on the elliptical too. I’ve been increasing my time on the machine between breaks, and I’m now doing 400 revolutions before I take a break. So, for one mile I take three breaks. Not bad at all. I could probably go 500 now, but I’ll take it slow. I did go 600 one day before my first break. I’ll get there. Still doing a mile in about 31 to 32 minutes.
Here’s the last of the pictures that I have been saving from the site.
Mile 394.6 (WATP for 5) 397.6 (WATP for 2, Elliptical for 1)
Heh. The speed limit is 25 miles an hour apparently. Still looks nice and sunny along the route, I wonder if there will be any rainy weather along the way. We’ll see. For now, keep moving!

Mileage Monday
This will probably be the last Mileage Monday post for a while. If I get too far behind in posting the daily picture, then I’ll get back to them. We’ll see how it goes. Here are some more images. I’ll write up another post soon to say where I am along the route. Moving along fast now that I’m counting the WATP miles.

21 Day Challenge Wrap Up
I forgot to post the last week’s mileage assignments for the challenge. Oops. She was late posting them on her blog, and never said what the delay was. But, that’s OK. Things happen. Sunday and Monday I did my own thing. When the mileage assignments were finally up, I was a few miles behind schedule. I got caught up though…getting in an extra mile for 3 of the days.
Here’s the three weeks of miles we did.
Day 1 - 2/18 - 3 mile walk - Missed It
Day 2 - 2/19 - 2 mile walk - 5 miles (5 with DVD)
Day 3 - 2/20 - 4 mile walk - 4 miles (3 with DVD, 1 on elliptical)
Day 4 - 2/21 - 2 mile walk - 2 miles (2 with DVD)
Day 5 - 2/22 - 3 mile walk - 3 miles (2 with DVD, 1 on elliptical)
Day 6 - 2/23 - 3 mile walk - 3 miles (3 with DVD)
Day 7 - 2/24 - 2 mile walk - 2 miles (1 with DVD, 1 on elliptical)
Day 8 - 2/25 - 5 mile walk - 5 miles (5 with DVD)
Day 9 - 2/26 - 2 mile walk - 2 miles (1 with DVD, 1 on elliptical)
Day 10 - 2/27 - 4 mile walk - 3.5 miles (3 with DVD, 1/2 on elliptical)
Day 11 - 2/28 - 3 mile walk - 3.5 miles (3 with DVD, 1/2 on elliptical)
Day 12 - 2/29 - 2 mile walk - 2 miles (2 with DVD)
Day 13 - 3/1 - 2 mile walk - 2 miles (2 with DVD)
Day 14 - 3/2 - 3 mile walk - 3 miles (3 with DVD)
Day 15 - 3/3 - Wild Card Day - 2 miles (2 with DVD) Assignment was 4 miles
Day 16 - 3/4 - Wild Card Day - 1 mile (1 on elliptical) Assignment was 2 miles
Day 17 - 3/5 - 4 mile walk (5 with DVD)
Day 18 – 3/6 – 2 mile walk (2 with DVD, 1 on elliptical)
Day 19 - 3/7 - 3 mile walk(4 with DVD)
Day 20 - 3/8 - 3 mile walk (2 with DVD, 1 on elliptical)
Day 21 - 3/9 - 5 mile walk (5 with DVD)
Total: 63 miles (think I added that correctly)
So, that’s that. I’m going to keep posting my miles on her Walk Social page on FaceBook. Just looking at all the miles that get posted will keep me moving.
Today was a much needed rest day. Got in a small amount of walking still. Went to the movies today (haven’t been to a movie since November), and my walking wasn’t too bad. Not as bad as it was a few months ago.
Tomorrow I plan on doing 3 miles. I want to see if I can stream one of her videos she has streaming on FaceBook right now. It’s her 5k With A Twist video. I looked for it on Amazon, but you can only buy someone’s used version. Which is fine. I f I like it that much, I’ll see where else I can get it from. I love the 2 minute boost she does on the 5 Mile Fat Burning Walk, and she does the same with the 5k With A Twist. I don’t know how long the video will be available on FaceBook, so I want to get to that as soon as I can.
My calves are thanking me for the day off.

Walking Wednesday
Getting closer to the end of my stockpile of pictures from the virtual walk site. Once I get to the end, I’ll do my best to do a daily pic post again. We’ll see if I can keep up with that though.

Wild Card Days
Still no mileage post on Leslie Sansone’s blog. So yesterday and today were “wild card” days. I was planning to do 4 miles yesterday (3 with the DVD and 1 on the elliptical), but I wimped out and just did 2 with the DVD. Still, a little movement is better than no movement. Then today, I was so tempted to just skip it. But around 1:45 PM I sucked it up and did a mile on the elliptical.
I’ve been trying to see how long I can go before I need a break. Lately, I’ve been taking a break ever 200 revolutions. But today I just went. My first break was at 600 revolutions (just shy of .4 mile. I could have probably gone longer, but I didn’t. Then I did another 400 revolutions and took my second break. Then I did 300 and took my third and final break. Finished the last 300 and could have gone for a while longer, but thought it was best to stop.
I don’t normally make new year’s resolutions, but I do have goal for the end of 2012. That is to be able to go for 1 full mile with no breaks, and to be able to do 2 miles in one session on the elliptical. I could have probably gone 2 miles today, but that would have been pushing it by the end.
I think by doing the Walk Away The Pounds dvd it’s helped my endurance get better. So from now on, I’ll plan a weekly mileage goal and try to meet it. I seem to be keeping up with exercise with the 21 day challenge, so if I make myself a schedule, I’ll be sure to stick to it.
Not sure what I’ll do tomorrow if the mileage still isn’t posted, but I’ll do something. Maybe 3 miles, or 4. We’ll see.

21 Day Challenge…Hmmm
The third week of Leslie Sansone’s 21 Day Challenge mileage assignments hasn’t been posted yet. People on her FaceBook page are thinking she was affected by the storms and might not have power. So, my plan for today is to wait until noon or sometime after lunch, and if the mileage isn’t posted by then, I’ll do 3 miles. My guess is today was going to be either 4 or 5 miles since it’s been a while. If I do 3 today, and it turns out she posted 4 or 5, I can do an extra mile or 2 another day.
Here’s a recap of the challenge so far.
Once the mileage goals for the third week are posted, I’ll post it here.
